Confirmation refers to the decision a person makes to respond to God's grace with intentional commitment, publicly reaffirming his or her baptismal vows before the congregation. Most confirmands are youth between the ages of eleven and fourteen, who have been nurtured in the church since their baptism as an infant or young child. Most churches offer a deliberate time of preparation before this service. During confirmation class, confirmands learn about the meaning of Christian faith; the history and teachings and The United Methodist Church; and an explanation of the baptismal and membership vows they will be professing.

Confirmation is a year long program that is done with the 8th graders.  We use the Credo confirmaiton curriculum which engages with spiritual and theological to help young adults in there choice to make a commitment to the Church.

Summer Camps

In the Dakotas UM Conference we are blessed to have three church camp facilties:

We know that the summer Bible camp experience is incredibly formative; indeed, many of our pastors have received their call into full time ordained ministry at a summer camp. Because of this, our church pays over half the tuition for any of our young persons desiring to go to a program at one of our three camp sites, and for those whom the remaining balance would be an undue financial burden, full scholarships are available.

Christian camping is not only a wildly fun time away from home, but it is also an intense immersion in Christian community and discipleship training. We highly value our conference camps and those who work so diligently to support this ministry. To learn more, visit our conference camping website at
